Obituary

Nancy Marie Huber DeJohn entered this life July 17, 1948 and began eternal life on September 2, 2018 surrounded by family.  She lived in Mission Viejo, CA for over 40 years, born in Cherry Point, North Carolina, graduated High School at Camp Lejeune, NC and spent the years in between stationed at various bases throughout the country while her Marine Corps Office father proudly served his country.  She often stayed with her beloved grandparents in Louisville, Kentucky and always referred to that place as home.  As the eldest child of Walter and Dorothy Huber, Nancy took on the role as caretaker to her 6 siblings.

She attended her mother’s alma mater Ursuline College, went on to marry and graduate from Saddleback College in Southern California.

As a proud and devout Catholic, and a single mother of two young girls, Nancy was an active member of the church and Cursillo and encouraged her children in their faith as they attended the Mission San Juan Capistrano school, and later Santa Margarita HS and St Kilian’s.  She was also able to find a career in printing where she excelled and won many awards for her hard work and achievements. She was blessed to have found a values-based company that reflected her beliefs and that functioned more like a family than a group of co-workers.  This allowed her to also be a mom who drove carpool and attended school functions and sports games.

Additionally, she managed to play an active role in her community volunteering and running many local and national organizations.  Nancy was proud of her accomplishments getting the Saddleback Teen Center up and running in Mission Viejo.  She was a conference Chairwoman for WISE – a group founded to empower women to learn about their finances.  And she was on the Board of Directors and a Conference Chairwoman for WomenSage – providing opportunities and programs to empower woman.

Nancy is survived by her 2 daughters, Stephanie Sikora (Mark) and Natalie Hustad (Jesse); 4 grandchildren, Elliot, Anthony, Vivi and Olivia; 5 sisters, Marian Mann (Reeve Chudd), Linda Ford (Bill), Barbara Huber, Janet Carlen (James), Pamela Magney (Eric); 1 bother, Walter Lee Huber, Jr (Luanna); 5 nieces and 6 nephews.  Nancy was predeceased by her parents.

All friends and family are welcome to celebrate Nancy’s life with a rosary and reflection on Sunday September 9th at 10am in the Chapel at O’Connor Mortuary, 25301 Alicia Pkwy, Laguna Hills, CA.  With a funeral Mass on Monday September 10th at 1pm at St Kilian’s Church in Mission Viejo, CA, and reception immediately following.

In lieu of flowers, Nancy has asked that you donate to your favorite charity in her name.  Her favorites were SOARS and Bondi Ministries.

Please join us for a special rosary and reflection service on Sunday at 10am.  This time will be spent praying the rosary together and reflecting on Mom’s life.

The rosary was a very important part of mom’s life, and the only thing she wanted after her death was for all her friends and family to gather and pray the rosary together.  We’ll start at 10 with a beautiful procession celebrating one of mom’s favorite Bible verses 10 roses and a lily, followed by the rosary and eulogies.

Funeral mass at St Kilian’s on Monday at 1pm, with reception to follow in the church hall.

  1. Loved our time together in the coaching group, She had such a sweet spirit and big heart. I am so sad, but I know heaven welcomes her loving soul.

  2. I still can not really believe why I am writing this and the reality makes me feel heartbroken. Nancy and I were friends for over 34 years. My husband and I moved across the street from her and she came right over to welcome us. From that day on we were best buddies. We laughed together & cried together. We worked together, formed an investment group together, we started a club of 2 called 40Somthing,
( modified from the 30Somthings TV show!) We loved, enjoyed and respected each other,. We comforted, sat and talked and listened to each other. We called each other by our last names…she started that! LOL. We always knew & expected we would be there for each other. No one will ever fill her place in my life or heart. Till next time Nancy
