Obituary

Nancy Jean Meade (née Weiss) died peacefully at home on December 9, 2016, in Lake Forest, CA at the age of 69.

Nancy is survived by her husband, Sean; siblings, Bonnie Weiss of Brockport, NY; Carol Weiss of Nyack, NY; John Weiss of Dover, OH; and Joanne Janus of Ravenel, SC. She is preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Marion Weiss of Hamburg, NY, and sister Ruth Smith of LeRoy, NY.

Nancy was born on February 3, 1947, in Buffalo, NY. She graduated from Hamburg High School in 1965. She received a degree in nursing from Henry Ford Hospital School of Nursing in 1968. She returned to Buffalo, continued nursing and in the 1980s received a degree in medical technology from the University of NY at Buffalo. She worked for several years in Wyoming County, NY before moving to southern California in 1988. She was employed at several medical laboratories including Quest Diagnostics Nichols Institute. She retired in 2012 from Beckman Coulter where she worked in customer support. She married Sean Meade on April 9,1995 at Lees Ferry, AZ, the start of the Grand Canyon.

Nancy had a lifelong passion for music and played the piano, organ and especially loved to sing. She was a caring individual who showed compassion, generosity, and hospitality to all her friends and family. She was an active and dedicated member of both Orange County Mensa and OC Sound Chorus of Sweet Adelines International.

Visitation is scheduled on December 15 at O’Connor Mortuary on Alicia Parkway, Laguna Hills at 1 PM. The memorial service will follow at 2 PM. All are welcome to attend to celebrate Nancy’s life.
