Nancy Barrier Meadows

Nancy B. Meadows, a 48-year resident of Laguna Niguel, passed away on December 19, 2014. She was born on October 20, 1930 in Memphis, Tennessee.

Nancy was a Registered Nurse. She enjoyed a long and successful career as a surgical nurse and nurse manager. Nancy received her nurse training in New Orleans at Tulane University and the Mather School of Nursing of Southern Baptist Hospital. She also held a Bachelor of Science degree from Chapman University.

Nancy was employed for nearly 23 years as a Surgical Nurse at Saddleback Memorial Medical Center before retiring in 1996. From 1996 to 2005, Nancy served as a Parish Nurse for the Laguna Beach United Methodist Church. She was also an active member of the Association of periOperative Registered Nurses (AORN), and served as President of the Orange County AORN Chapter from 1993-1994.

Beyond her professional work, Nancy pursued a wide variety of other interests and activities. She was a proud American, and was honored to be a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR). Nancy enjoyed music, art, the theatre and working crossword puzzles. She was very fond of Dana Point Harbor and spent many happy hours at the harbor with her husband and beloved Golden Retriever, Sandy. Nancy also loved to travel. She visited many wonderful places around the world with her late husband.

Nancy’s legacy is a life very well lived. She inspired many people with her faith, compassion, “happy go lucky” personality and commitment to others. Nancy was loved and admired by her family, friends and colleagues.

Nancy is survived by her son, Charlie of Laguna Niguel, daughter Kelly and granddaughters Madelyn, Delaney and Torey, all of Friendswood, Texas.

A celebration of life service for Nancy will be held on January 24, 2015 at the Laguna Beach United Methodist Church. The family will hold a private internment service at the Nashville National Cemetery in Tennessee, at which time she will be laid to rest with her husband, Charles.
