Beloved Son

Patrick Dewey was born in Maryland in 1993 where he spent most of the first 20 years of his life. In his youth he enjoyed sports and music. He played on recreational  soccer and swim teams and was a member of his school band. He played a number of instruments including the saxophone and the guitar. As he approached his teenage years he focused on tennis. He played varsity tennis in high school and was a member of the United States Tennis Association where he played on the junior circuit for six years. He won a handful of tournaments and was ranked in the top 100 junior tennis players in the middle Atlantic states.

Patrick moved to California when he was 20. He attended a number of different community colleges and eventually got certified as a web developer, as a Personal Trainer and as a Physical Therapy assistant. He continued to enhance his skills in software engineering and development and enrolled in a software engineering curriculum at Arizona State University. At the time of his death he was a junior at the top of his class with a 4.2 grade point average.

Patrick’s other interests included golf, cooking and rooting for his favorite sports teams – the Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies. Patrick was a gregarious individual with a quick wit and an incredible sense of humor. He was a beacon of light to everyone who knew him. He will be sadly missed. Patrick is survived by his mother Eileen and his father Bob.

    Eileen & Bob,

Please accept my deepest condolences in the loss of Patrick. While I never had the opportunity to meet him, the gleam in Eileen’s eye when she spoke of him was a clear indicator of how much he was loved. I pray for your strength as you navigate through this unimaginable time. May his memories bring you comfort and healing.

    All my love,
    Elana

Bob with tears in my eyes I send this message to express how sad it is to hear of Patrick’s death. I know your strong faith will help you and Eileen get through this. None of us know when or how we will pass. We can only hope we were loved and will not be forgotten. I know Patrick has all of this. Every time I step on the number 15 Teebox I will say a prayer for him I know no matter where my ball goes it won’t come close to his. I would look to the Patrick palm and the sky and give him a thumbs up. If there is anything you need don’t hesitate to call.

  3. Patrick was one of my oldest friends. We met at kids, and although our lives took us in separate directions, we remained in touch because that’s how Pat was— a true friend in every sense of the word. He made friends everywhere he went. He had an energy that drew you in, made you feel comfortable and loved. We had so much fun goofing around together as kids and he is a part of some of my absolute favorite childhood memories. I mourn for those who knew him and loved him, and I mourn for those who never got the chance to meet his amazing soul. Pat, you will be missed. You are so loved. And you will never, ever, ever be forgotten.

  4. Dear Bob & Eileen, As a parent, I cannot think of anything more painful than what you two are enduring. I pray your faith will give you strength and to know that Patrick is now resting comfortably in the Arms of Jesus. Not knowing either Patrick or you, Eileen, but only Bob, I am sure he was a wonderful person and certainly had accomplished much in his young life. I can only offer you my heartfelt sympathy at this tragic time, and many prayers for your whole family.

Condolences to Patrick’s family. I met Patrick in the bay area and we worked together at Jamba Juice and became quick friends. His positivity experience strength and hope definitely was a positive influence on my life. Along with working together Patrick was a gym buddy who pushed me to get stronger and test my boundaries while working out. I truly will miss him, his smile and friendship.
