IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Mourad L.
Ghobrial
April 8, 1929 – April 12, 2023
Mourad L. Ghobrial was called home to be with The Lord on Wednesday, April 12, 2023.
Born in Egypt and the youngest of 8 children, he was preceded in death by all of his siblings – Salim, Helmy, Samia, Shoukry, Mouneer, Samira and Anwar.
He attended Cairo University and received his BS in Chemistry in 1950. He worked at El Nasr Company for Fertilizers and Chemical Industries from 1950 until he immigrated to the United States in 1969. He then worked for Camp Dresser & McKee Company in Boston as an Environmental Scientist. As a Supervising Engineer, he managed both domestic and international water treatment plants in the US, Egypt, Philippines, Colombia, Hong Kong and Tunisia. After a long career, he retired in 1994 and settled in Dana Point, California with his beloved wife Ardis Ghobrial of 58 years.
He and Ardis were blessed with a large and loving family. His nephews and nieces are Soheir, Kamal, Adel, Madiha, Hany, Atef, Salwa, Shadia, Nagy, Magda, Magdy, Momtaz, Mounis, Mona, Wafa, Nagwa and Claire as well as the late Amal, Layla and Laila.
Mourad was the brother-in-law to Evelyn (Laura) Fanous, Gamil Fanous and Eva Fanous as well as the late Alfons Fanous, Izis Fanous and Ibrahim Fanous. He was a precious uncle to Hany Sabet, Adel Sabet, Eva Sabet, Kathy Burri, Michael Fanous, Manal Tadros, John Fanous, Christy Fanous and David Fanous as well as the late Ragy Sabet and Steven Fanous.
Everyone who knew Mourad would describe him as a friendly and kind person to all. He showed genuine interest in people and made everyone feel important and loved. He was content in all situations.
His famous delicious potato salad was something that family and friends looked forward to on 4th of July gatherings. No one can spice fava beans (fool medamas) quite like Mourad.
Mourad loved The Lord and spent hours reading the Bible and listening to hymns and sermons.
Our dear Mourad will be sorely missed by his family and friends.
