Obituary

Monika ? Oma? Miller

In 1947 Monika began life in Germany and came to Canada as a small child in the early fifties with her parents and older brother, Dieter.

She raised two children of her own, Shawn and Corrina, with all of the love a Mother could give. After the children left home Monika moved to Toronto where she was a very successful award winning sales and marketing manager.

In 1995 Monika married Chuck Miller and moved to Dana Point, California. Although she attended church it was not until she married Chuck and began attending South Coast Christian Assembly that she became a born again believer. She also became the step mother to Chuck’s three daughters treating them with as much love as her own children.

As the years rolled by Monika’s love for the Lord and her Church family grew. Wanting and willing to serve, Monika was always helping with the church fellowships, Women’s ministry as well as Greeter’s and Sunday school teachers.

Monika loved her church family, especially the Women’s ministry. They taught her how to study God’s word which she loved. Monika loved the work of Women’s ministry and developed many close and wonderful friends.

In 1996 Monika became a grandmother for the first time. The grand babies, all nine of them called her ?Oma? a European word for Grandmother. Monika loved her children and their babies. She, like Job, prayed for each of them everyday. Her love for all of them knew no bounds.

Monika? s life reflected the love of God and even her disease could not stop her desire to see all of her family in church serving her God. Corrina’s wedding was the thrill of her life when all of her blended family was together for the first time.

Monika favorite saying was ? a faith that can not be tested could not be trusted?…

Monika passed the test.

  1. Dear Dad,

This is a beautiful tribute to Monika. I am sure she would be very touched by all of the people who cared to sign her guest book. Dad, I know you miss her Desperately, but God is going to carry you through this just like he carried Monika through her disease. I am so blessed to have been her step-daughter. I am also blessed to be your daughter. I love you! I am praying for you!

  2. Dear Dad and our Canadian Family:
Wow I can’t believe what a miracle Monika was! What a priviledge it was to know her and to love her. She brought a sense of order to all our lives. My favorite thing about Monika was her thoughtfulness. I have so many notes from her that would arrive miraculously on a day that I just needed a gentle reminder to be sweet to the one I am married to or to encourage me on an especially hard day.

I am so grateful for the time she shared with my dad- The two of them were perfect together. A great example of giving to each other unselfishly without expectation. I will forever be indebted to her for the great care she took of my dad! She was a bright light in my fathers life.

Corinna, Shawn, Opa and the rest of you- Thank you for sharing your sweet Monika with us! And thank you for opening your hearts, homes, and arms to me and my family! I love you all!

God Bless you all- I know Monika is dancing in his presence right now!
