Obituary
MONICA BELTRAN BARRETT – age 42, of Lake Forest, California, passed away peacefully November 11, 2008 following her courageous and valiant battle against cancer.
A career in public service lead Monica to the Orange County Department of Education. There she was the Program Manager for the Orange County ‘Friday Night Live’ Partnership youth group. Monica earned a bachelor’s degree in Social Work from the California State University Long Beach. Monica loved her job and thrived on expanding the minds and opportunities of the young students enrolled in the ‘FNL’ program.
Monica enjoyed the outdoors. She was an avid scuba diver and shared a love of travel with her husband, Brett. Together the two of them explored all ends of the earth, with an appreciation for different places and cultures.
Although Monica endured many set backs in her short life, she never once complained and always put others before herself. She is survived by her husband, Brett, parents, John and Irene Beltran, sisters, Vivian Ortiz and Ilene Reveles Jose, nephews, Joseph and Jonathan Reveles. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Services will be held at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, located at 1441 W. Balboa Blvd., Newport Beach, California on Monday, November 17, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. Reception immediately following the service at the Vallejos/Bold home, 24151 Roma Drive, Mission Viejo, California, 949 680-2971.

This year has been very hard on the entire world. A pandemic hit on an election year and the entire nation went up in arms. But there is hope and opportunities for positive change. The most important lessons you have ever taught me continue to resonate loud and clear. I can’t believe it’s year 12 and I miss you the most on this very day. Maybe it’s all the what ifs, if you were still here… Or missing the nurturing advice you always gave. Either way, I laugh and smile at all the best menories and shed tears wishing to see you again. Love you 3000.

Let’s try this again. I don’t know what I did wrong the first time. You were always so good at the computer and I miss going to you for help in so many ways of my life. I can’t believe you’ve been gone so long – Another year has come and gone; it’s already 2020. We all miss you so much, you just can’t begin to imagine. I often wonder what it would be like if you were still here with us to share your thoughtful insights and fun-loving adventures. But even today, they still have made no progress on the type of cancer you had. Only God knows why. The tree dedicated to you in Lake Havasu is strong and tall – just like when you were here, so strong. You would be proud of your nephews and would be a great-aunt for the 2nd time in Feb 2021 – close to mom’s birthday. We are all doing well and talk about you often. Of course, we will never forget you. Thank you so much for the wonderful memories…. but wish you were here. You will live in our hearts forever. But in the meantime, I have faith that Jesus has you in His loving arms and you are enjoying Heaven. Until we meet again. Love you forever sister

This year I get to honor you and many others that have touched my life deeply. I think of you often and wish you were still here to share in my successes and failures. Now I have a special place that I can physically visit and share with everyone. This paver is a small reminder of how large of an imprint you left on my heart. I love and miss you dearly, Monica.
