  2. Indeed, it has been 7 years now without dear Monica. She is still incredibly missed and always in our thoughts. Thank you, Dr. Chen, for remembering my dear aunt. -Joseph

Hi Sister… This year we (mom, dad, Joe, Leannie & I) went to your tree in Lake Havasu – that’s why I’m late adding this message. The tree was beautiful & strong just like you. We checked out the plaques at the tree & remembered good times. We miss your wit; miss your ‘2 cents’ & ideas; we miss everything about you but we especially miss you. And we’ll always love you!!

I smile with all the wonderful memories together, yet tears greet me with familiarity. My life has taken a side detour, especially for the last 2 years, and I could just hear our decision on the choices I’ve made and lessons I’ve learned from them. I can hear your wisdom in your words and feel your love and care for me in your heart. How often I forgot that you never left my side, that I just need to slow down and just listen, I really just miss you. I know you’re proud of me though, the person I’ve become through all you guidance, I can never thank you enough.

This year I lost another friend and I hope she’s with you by your side. There has been so much loss in the world this year, including Celine Dion’s husband. But, I know you all are watching over me, I’m the luckiest with four amazing Angels protecting and guiding me.

Love you so much Monica, until we meet again.

    Upendo, Cristy

She was one of the most influential mentors I ever had, but being her nephew, you already know how amazing she was. 🙂
