Obituary

MICHAEL PATRICK RILEY
May 26, 1966 – January 1, 2010

Beloved son, brother, uncle and friend, Michael died peacefully at his home in Newport Beach. He was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Dr. Dennis and Katy Riley, the second of five children.

Michael attended All Hallows Academy and was a graduate of La Jolla High School. He was a gifted athlete who was known for his big heart, his gentle manner and his infectious laughter. He spent his childhood excelling at many sports including tennis, soccer and racquetball. His passion, however, was the game of golf. He loved nothing more than spending hours on the golf course with his father and mother, his siblings and nephew. He was a member of the golf team while attending the University of Arizona.

Michael was devoted to his family and friends. He is survived by his parents, his siblings, Missy & Steve McNally, Mark & Charlotte Riley, Molly & Rex Edwards, and Christopher Riley. He also leaves behind loving nieces and nephews, Patrick, Brittany, Phoebe, Olivia, Riley and Harrison.

Michael had a successful career in the financial services / investment banking industry and held positions throughout southern California – always analyzing and forever enjoying the challenges of the stock market. When he wasn’t working, he loved spending time with his nieces and nephews, eager to help them with the fundamentals of golf and at one point, coaching a youth soccer team.

Michael, we will forever miss your sweet smile and your constant kindness. Our family will never be the same without you.

The family will hold a private service. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the San Diego Junior Golf Association at 858.558.8277 ext. 100, or to the American Diabetes Association at 1-800-342-2383.
