Michael Theron Imlay, 80, of San Juan Capistrano, California, passed away peacefully on August 17, 2026. He was born on August 17, 1946, in Altadena, California to Frances Jane(nee Anderson) Imlay and Charles Theron Imlay He grew up in Southern California graduating from Buena Park High School and CalPoly Pomona with a degree in Landscape Architecture.

He married Kathleen (nee Germer) Imlay on August 17, 1968. They settled and raised their family in San Juan Capistrano.

He is survived by his spouse Kathleen, his three children, Erika Imlay Markel (m Tim Markel) Andrea Imlay Platler (m Matthew) and David Imlay (m AnaCarolina Pesce) his grandchildren Aidan, Ava, Lily and Jack and his sisters Patricia Imlay, Peggy Imlay Allen (m Thomas) Allen, Kitty Imlay Germer (m John Germer) Kelly Imlay Walker (m Gary Walker) and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Thomas.

A funeral Mass will be held on October 10, 2026 at 10am at Mission Basilica Church in San Juan Capistrano. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association of Orange County.
