IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Michael Manzano
Abigania
June 8, 1952 – March 17, 2024
Michael Manzano Abigania of Mission Viejo, California; loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 17, 2024. He was born in Vigan, Ilocos Sur, Philippines on June 8, 1952.
The second eldest son of twelve children, Michael is well-regarded as the cornerstone for his family’s seamless immigration from the Philippines to the United States. In 1974, he married Arminda Pascual and moved to the island of Kauai, Hawaii. Michael worked for Olokele Sugar Company from 1975 to 1999. For more than 20 years, Michael and Arminda resided in Kaumakani, the company’s plantation village, where they raised their three daughters and made lifelong friendships. In 2005, Michael and Arminda moved to Northern California and began their employment at Walmart. In 2019 Michael retired after 14 years as a maintenance specialist at the Laguna Niguel Walmart. He spent his free time cooking for family and friends, fishing from the piers, and taking long walks with his wife. His charismatic personality and selflessness will never be forgotten.
Michael is survived by his wife, Arminda Pascual Abigania; daughters, Sherry (Franklin Jr) Matthews, Michelle (Victor) Abigania-Libunao, and Melany (Eric) Abigania-Chun; and grandchildren Makana, and Kainani Libunao; and Malia, Micah, Jacob, and Jade Matthews. He is also survived by his brothers Louis (Edith) Abigania, Robert (Doris) Abigania, Richard (Tess) Abigania, Glenn (Sharon) Abigania, Reynold Abigania; and his sisters Nancy Abigania, Vicky Abigania, Christine (Bernard Sr) Mabini, Alice (Reggie) Hunt, and Brenda (Ho-Tai) Zerba.
Michael is preceded in death by his parents, Rufo and Mary Abigania; and sister, Cynthia Dela Cruz.
Family and friends are invited to visit with the family and say their final farewell to Michael on Saturday, March 30, 2024, at O’Connor Mortuary, Laguna Hills, California. The viewing is from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
