Merrill Smith was born on November 27, 1951 in Mt. Lebanon, Pennsylvania to parents Wayne and Olive Smith. He passed away in Orange, California on September 29, 2023. In 1994, he and his partner, Joanne Knoblock, moved from New Jersey to Pinewood Street in Orange. Merrill is preceded in death by his partner Joanne after 30 years together. He is survived by his daughter, step-daughter, step-son, sister and four step-grandchildren.

Merrill was a proud Michigan State alum, avid Angels and Ducks fan, adept Poker and Black Jack player and a licensed pilot. Throughout his life, he was fascinated with wildlife and animals and renowned by his friends and family as a marvelous griller.

His memorial service will be held at O'Connor Mortuary's Laguna Hills Chapel, 25301 Alicia Pkwy, Laguna Hills, CA 92653 on Tuesday, October 17 ^th at 10:00am.
