Obituary

Melissa Nicole Nemeth, also known as Lissa, Sissy and Loo, was 29 years old when she passed away last Tuesday, April 21st, 2015 at Hoag Hospital in Irvine. Melissa suffered from a blood clotting disorder that took its toll on her organs. The doctors, nurses and staff at Hoag were amazing..angels sent from heaven.

Melissa lived with her grandfather, Steve Pitman, known as “Papa”, in Lake Forest, California. She was born in Laguna Beach, California on February 9th, 1986. Melissa is survived by her mother Stephanie Rocha and her siblings; Brittany Nemeth, 26, Craig Nemeth, 24, Abigail Nemeth, 21, and Nicolas Rocha, 16. Melissa was blessed to be part of a much larger immediate and extended family as well.

Melissa graduated from St. Margaret’s Episcopal School located in San Juan Capistrano, California in 2003 with top honors. She went on to receive her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from the University of San Francisco, California. Melissa was working on her Master’s Degree in Psychology at Brandman University in Irvine, California.

Melissa was a remarkable young woman who overcame many challenges in her short life. By her family, friends and colleagues, she would definitely be characterized as a giver. Melissa was always the one to jump to the task to help others without complaint. Her passion became educating and advocating for those with mental illness and their families. Melissa would surely love to be remembered as the one who was always there to help another.

Services will be held at St. Margaret’s Episcopal Church on Friday, May 1st, 2015 at 4 o’clock in the afternoon with a celebration of life immediately following at the family home. In lieu of gifts and/or flowers, please feel free to make donations to NAMI Orange County, 1810 E. 17th Street, Santa Ana, California, (714) 544-8488, namioc.org.
