Melchor Gaspar Sanchez, aka 'Mel' or 'Gaspar,' 81, passed away July 7, 2013. He rejoined his wife and daughter above. A strong and influential man he leaves a legacy. To many from his home country, he was the doorway to a new life here in the USA. He exemplified the 'American Dream,' having immigrated from Mexico at a young age. After 50 years here he gained his U.S. citizenship. His work ethic, values and motivation will be remembered long after his passing. He will be missed. He is survived by sons Saul, Francisco, Noel, Humberto, and Gaspar; 11 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren. His wife Ana and daughter Teresa preceded him in death.

Vigil will be at 7:00pm on Tuesday, July 16 at O'Connor Mortuary, Laguna Hills. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00am on Wednesday, July 17 at Santiago de Compostela Catholic Church, Lake Forest, followed by burial at Ascension Cemetery. There will be a reception at Melchor's home after the services on Wednesday.
