Obituary

Mary Wittenmeier, 75 of Mission Viejo, passed away peacefully in her sleep at her home on April 13, 2017, after a courageous battle with lung cancer. Everyone who knew her would agree she was one of a kind. Born in Columbus, Ohio Mary met and married the love of her life, Jerry Wittenmeier. His careers in the military and business world took them many places until they settled in Mission Viejo in 1974. Throughout those travels she encountered high ranking military officers, corporate giants, celebrities, and everyday people from all walks of life. She did not discriminate – everyone was treated with the same warmth, caring kindness, dazzling smile and WICKED sense of humor. She went to great lengths to find ways to help those in need, whatever their problem – from catastrophic illness or injury to comforting the hurt feelings of a small child. She also went to great lengths to make us laugh – something she did so well and with such ease. All of the retail establishments in the area will feel the loss of her efforts searching for just the right item to give someone a giggle – no matter the occasion, she could always find the perfect “award”. To say she will be missed is a gross understatement, but her family already knows she will be sending rainbows and angels to fill their feelings of emptiness.

Preceded in death by infant daughter, Mary Angela, she is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Jerry, and their children Kim Williams, Charles (Chip) Wittenmeier, Troy (Kaleen), Wendy (Brian) Pike, Monte and Darren. Grandchildren, Blake Williams, Sydney (Sean) Menchaca, Evan and Wesley Williams; Atticus, Emerson and Amelie Wittenmeier; Bradey and Brooke Wittenmeier; Rylan and Brennan Pike.

Rosary and sharing memories will be held Tuesday, April 25, 6PM at St. Kilian Church, 26872 Estanciero Dr., Mission Viejo, CA 92691. Funeral Mass Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at 10:30 AM also at St. Kilian Church.
