Mary Theresa Carroll Freeman
December 8, 1931- November 1, 2019
Mary Theresa Carroll Freeman, age 87, passed away peacefully on November 1, 2019 at Saddleback Memorial Hospital in Laguna Hills, CA. She was born in Chicago, Illinois to John and Estelle Carroll.
Mary was proud of her years working at North American Rockwell during the time of the Apollo and space shuttle programs.
Later she worked for the Orange County Courts until her retirement.
She was a 35-year resident of Orange County and lived the past 20 years in Laguna Woods.
Mary was very independent and active until the very end.
She was a competitive Lawn Bowler and member of Laguna Beach Lawn Bowling club where she made many friends.
Mary also enjoyed traveling, participating in her son’s football pool and playing cards.
Family was always the most important thing to Mary and she always put her children first throughout her life.
Mary was a very proud and patriotic American.
Above all she was a dedicated and loving mother.
Mary is survived by sons Mark (Elizabeth), Jeff (Pam), Guy and Michael, daughter Elizabeth Freeman Grieve, and nieces Kayla Stewart and Helen Wonner.
She was the grandmother to seven (Tyler, Katie, William, Madison, Charles, Matthew and Ryan) and to four great- grandchildren (Dempsey, Ivy, Taylor and Oona).
Services will be private and a Celebration of Life will be held for family and friends at a later date.

Mary,
You truly were a dear friend to me.! I met you at South Court when I was pregnant with Katie; now she’s 30 years old. We shared the same birthday, and we always celebrated by going to Opah’s. One of our favorite things to do was to go to Fisherman’s for happy hour. You were one classy, funny lady; I always had such a great time with you. You will be missed so much. Love you! Jodie

So many great memories, great times and laughs. Your sense of humor was second to none. The matriarch of a great family (oh, and that guy, Jeff…LAB). I will raise a toast to you each year on our shared birthday. You will be missed in this world, but your impact will stay with me for the rest of my life.

When I didn’t receive a Christmas card this year, I feared something was wrong. I looked today and found Mary’s obituary online.
I am so very, very sorry for your loss. It is a loss for me too because she was my dear friend. I first met Mary when I moved next door to her in January 2011. We quickly became friends. We both worked for the County, her the court, me for Probation though we didn’t know our paths would cross then. We enjoyed going to lunch in Dana Point or Newport Beach and went as often as our schedules would permit. Her style and decorating were impeccable, and I loved and admired her so much.
I moved out of the condo next to hers, but I remained in Laguna Woods for several years. I last saw Mary in May 2017 when we went to lunch before I moved out of state. We both cried and cried as I drove away. We kept in touch via email and my last email from her was in late Spring 2019.
Again, I am so sorry for your loss. I would appreciate it if you could write and tell me about her last days.
