Mary Jean Spallino age 104 passed away on July 10, 2023, while residing at 23442 El Toro Rd. Lake Forest, CA. She went home to be with the Lord very peacefully in her sleep. She survived her first husband James McCarron of 25 years and also her second husband Alphonso Spallino of 15 years. She had no children, but is survived by a loving family and friends.

Mary Jean was a woman of great faith and many amazing accomplishments. She had an enormous heart for giving especially to those less fortunate, whether at home or around the world. Her compassion for others inspired all that knew her. She graduated high school and then went on to UCLA graduating with a teaching degree in English and Latin. Her first job was teaching at Manzanar Internment Camp Independence California during WWll. After leaving Manzanar she went on to learning how to fly an airplane. In the later 1940's she opened a day care center with a friend on Balboa Island in California, then went on to teach English and Latin to high school students for several years before marrying her first husband. In later years she worked with the Braille Institute putting material together for the blind. Mary Jean was an avid traveler who loved the open seas and traveled the world. In her 70's she took a safari through Africa even riding an elephant. She had an amazing life and lived it to the fullest touching the lives of all who knew her.

There will be a service at Abiding Savior Lutheran church 23262 El Toro Rd, Lake Forest, CA. on July 28 ^th at 10:00am.
