Mary Helen Valencia
1924 – 2015
Born in 1924, to Joseph and Eugenia De Santos, Mary was one of eight children, four girls, herself, Carmen, Rose and Celine, and four boys Humberto, Frank, Joseph, and Manuel.
Mary graduated elementary and high school from Our Lady Queen of the Angels in Los Angeles. She worked as a Bookkeeper for a few years. In 1945, she married Felix Jaime Valencia and embraced her vocation as wife, mother and homemaker. She and Felix were married for 41 years until Felix passed away in 1986. In 1946 Mary gave birth to Manuel Charles and in 1950 to Mary Sylvia.
A native of California, Mary and the family lived in Los Angeles, Griffith Park, Hollywood, La Puente, La Crescenta and San Juan Capistrano, California. She had lived for over 17 years in San Juan Capistrano with her daughter, Mary Sylvia, son-in-law Dennis Nevins and grandchildren Jessica and Daniel Nevins.
Mary passed away peacefully with her family around her at Mission Hospital in Mission Viejo California. She is survived by her brother Manuel De Santos, sister Celine Hildago, son Manuel Charles Valencia, daughter Mary Sylvia Valencia Nevins and family, three grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and more than thirty nieces and nephews.

Roman Catholic Mass and Interment for Mary will take place at Calvary Cemetery and Mausoleum, 4201 Whittier Blvd, East Los Angeles 90023, 323-261-3106. The Roman Catholic Mass will take place in the Main Mausoleum starting at 10:30am on Saturday March 28, 2015. The Interment will follow immediately after the Mass.
