Obituary

The Jedynak family announces with great sadness the loss of their beloved Mother, Mary Elizabeth Jedynak, age 86, on January 27, 2020.

Mary was born September 17, 1933, in Muskegon, Michigan, to Edward and Juanita Moore. She married Leo Jedynak on June 19, 1954, and is survived by their children Elizabeth, Tom, Carol, Andy and David, along with spouses,13 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.

During high school, Mary was drum major of her high school marching band. While attending Michigan State University she became a lifetime member of the Alpha Omicron Pi Sorority, and was chosen “Rose Queen” by the Delta Sigma Pi fraternity on the basis of personality and beauty.

Mary was a dedicated homemaker, wife and mother. She was intimately involved in the lives of her children in school and church activities, Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts and marching band; she often helped to raise funds to support their organizations.

When the family moved to California 35 years ago she became active in her local Sorority alumni chapter. She actively participated in their charitable works and held numerous leadership positions before becoming President.

Later she was a Sales Assistant at Mervyn’s for 12 years.

As an adult she enjoyed tennis, golf, bowling, softball, bridge, sewing and needle crafts, and walking with her friends.

She and Leo were married for 63 years, before his passing in 2018.

A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, January 30, 2020, 10:00 am at O’Connor Mortuary, 25301 Alicia Pkwy, Laguna Hills, CA 92653. She will be buried with Leo in a private ceremony at Miramar National Cemetery.

  4. We have been so missing Mary at our AOPi meetings and gatherings… I remember her smiling face welcoming me and all of us, to the Alumnae Chapter meetings. She had a sweet way of providing her leadership and her hospitality. Mary starred in loving kindness and brought sunshine and joy wherever she was. We send her off with love to rest near her beloved Leo.
