Mary Elizabeth (Boyle) Butts “Mary Beth”
January 15, 1941 – September 27, 2020
Beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother and Sister
Until we meet again….
Our mom, Mary Beth, passed peacefully at her home in Mission Viejo, California, surrounded by her children after a brave battle with kidney cancer. Although she passed much more quickly than expected, it was truly a blessing that she was able to be at home with her three children by her side and be relieved of any pain or fears.
Family meant everything to her and she is survived by her three children, six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren! She will be lovingly remembered by her three children, Lori Elizabeth (Butts) Ayer, Lynne Marie (Butts) Dana and son-in-law Kevin Phil Dana and Kevin William Brooks and daughter-in-law Christalyn Brooks. She was proud to have six grandchildren and never stopped talking about them! Happy memories of Grandma will be in the hearts of Kailee Marie (Dana) Leventry (m. Derek), Bradley Phil Dana (m. Rachel), Cody Jacob Brooks (Emily), Courtney Tianne Brooks, Ashlee Elizabeth Ayer and Kirra Rylee Brooks. Her newest family members include four great-grandchildren that will hear stories of great-grandma: Embry Marie Leventry, Raleigh Phil Dana, Payton Rae Dana and Lanie Ann Leventry. She cherished her family and we know she is still with us and watching over us all! She is also survived by three siblings: her brother, William Boyle and sisters JoAnne Spellman and Catherine Schwandt. She loved staying in touch with her sisters and looked forward to their visits. She was predeceased by another sister Patricia Dondono, who passed away earlier this year. We know they are together and dancing away at a heavenly sock hop!
Mary Beth was born to William and Mary Boyle in Detroit, Michigan. She was second of five siblings and was raised in Royal Oak, Michigan and graduated from Royal Oak Dondero High School in 1959. She married in 1962 and had daughters Lori and Lynne in 1963 and 1964. The family moved to New Jersey where son, Kevin was born in 1970. In 1973, the family moved to Irvine, California. She resided in Irvine till she retired and moved to Mission Viejo in 2011. She was a business owner for many years and became a single mom who always put her children first and worked tirelessly to put her children through college and help ensure their futures. She would do and did anything she could for her kids and her work ethic and dedication to family will always be an inspiration. She loved to read but her greatest joy was always being with family. She adored every new baby and loved attending as many events as she could to support her children and grandchildren. She will be dearly missed by us all and we know she will always be our biggest cheerleader in heaven! We love you Mom and Grandma and will miss you every day!
A celebration of life will be planned next spring when Mary Beth’s great-grandchildren are old enough to travel safely from Minnesota. Announcements will be sent to family members when a date is set.
“God saw you were getting tired and a cure was not to be. So, He put His arms around you and whispered “Come to Me.”
With tearful eyes the three of us watched you lovingly and saw you fade away. Although we loved you dearly, we could not make you stay.
A golden heart stopped beating, hard-working hands laid to rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us He only takes the best!”
With all our love always, your kids,
Lori, Lynne and Kevin
