Mary Ann Calannio passed away peacefully on May 23, 2025, in Mission Viejo, California, at the age of 91.

Born on May 18, 1934, in Jamestown, New York, to Joseph and Mary Ditonto Destro. Mary Ann was proud of her Italian heritage. She married the love of her life Thomas J. Calannio in 1953.A devoted mother to Thomas, Cathy Marion, and Jeffrey Calannio, Mary Ann was known for her warmth, humor, and generosity. She hosted legendary family gatherings, made unforgettable Italian meals, and always put others before herself. After moving to California in 1987, she worked in retail and later at Children’s Hospital of Orange County, showing strength and independence well into her later years.

She loved Christmas, family visits, Italy, wearing turquoise, making pasta and meatballs, playing blackjack, and sharing stories about the “good old days.” Above all, she was a woman of deep faith who encouraged others with her kindness and strength. You might not remember me. Jennie Marie, Patty & Tony Buttafarro’s niece. Your mom was the best. Memories flood me. I remember the day your dad passed. Your mom and him were the billboard sign for 2 gorgeous people, totally devoted to each other. Love and prayers go out to all of you. My Aunt Patty always told me what good kids you were to your mom. God bless you all. Love Jennie Narie
