Marty Roger Rodelius

Marty Roger Rodelius was born on July 29, 1956 in Willmar, Minnesota to Doris and Vaughn Rodelius, the third of six children. He was raised in Willmar and graduated from Willmar Senior High School in 1974. He graduated from Bethel University in 1978 with a degree in psychology. He then moved to California and made his home there. Marty enjoyed work in the hospitality and restaurant industry for several years. His lifelong career was a successful service business which he owned, operated and continued until his very unexpected death on January 2, 2021.

He is survived by his two sons Erick (Amy) of Chaska, Minnesota and Evan (Yvett) of Rancho Santa Margarita, California. Marty leaves behind four dearly loved grandsons: Elijah, age 4, Noah, age 13, Latham, age 5 and Sawyer, age 1. Survivors also include mother Doris Rodelius of Willmar, Minnesota, sister Karna (David) Swanson of Spicer, Minnesota, brother Kent (Kitty) Rodelius of Willmar, sister Mary Jo (Greg) Smith of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and brother Dan (Kathy) Rodelius of Maple Lake, Minnesota. He was preceded in death by his father Vaughn Rodelius, niece Emma Rodelius and sister Anne Wheeler. He is greatly missed by family and friends, especially Harry and Betsy Gray, Kerry Farrish, Brad Swenson, Jean Schurtz and Pat Pennington, Jeff Pinkham and John Wallin.

Marty was an avid reader, golfer and enjoyed fishing and hunting, music, and being a Minnesota sports fan. He cherished the fellowship of his Vicar and friends at St. John Chrysostom Episcopal Church in Rancho Santa Margarita. Marty will be remembered for his lifelong love of learning through reading and discussion, intellect, warmth and generous spirit.

The family is planning a service of remembrance for a future date. This will take place in both California and also Minnesota, where he will be buried. The family suggests memorials be sent to West Central Minnesota Youth for Christ.
