Obituary

Martha Alicia Soria, 58 of Mission Viejo, California, passed away on May 26, 2013 after a courageous and remarkable battle with pancreatic cancer. She passed in peace and comfort surrounded by her loving family.

She is survived by her husband Sergio of 31 years and her 3 boys, Sergio, Carlos, and Gabriel, and countless friends.

Martha was born on June 29, 1954 in Coalcoman, Michoacan to Daniel O. Avila and Maria Dolores Lua. Martha moved to Los Angeles at a young age and graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1972. She met her husband at the age of 27, fell instantly in love and was married by 28. She had 3 boys and moved to Mission Viejo to raise her family.

Martha had many hobbies. She enjoyed bowling in tournaments with her youngest son and socializing with anyone and everyone. Martha had an amazing aptitude for gardening. Her garden was always in bloom with vibrant roses and her kitchen was always in supply of fruits and vegetables. She was known by all to be an amazing cook; anyone who sat at her table left full and happy.

Martha was an unbelievably selfless person who lived her life to serve others. She raised her family and took care of her husband, but it didn’t stop there. Martha single-handedly took care of her Father, Mother, 2 aunts and 2 brothers in their elderly age and in time of illness. Martha’s natural ability to love and care inspired everyone she encountered. She was an angel living among men. She will be missed but her lessons and good nature will always live in our hearts.
