Obituary

Marlene was born in St. Joseph’s Hospital of Pontiac, Michigan on August 25, 1952 to Thomas James and Elizabeth Florence McNeely.  After graduating high school, Marlene earned her Associates Degree.  Due to her love of travel, she decided to complete a travel agency program and moved to California in pursuit of her career, fall of 1981.  After discovering that the travel industry was not as lucrative as expected, Marlene began working for a local hospital and nursing home.  Her goal was to one day earn a position at St. Joseph’s Hospital of Orange.  Marlene achieved that goal in 1986.  She went on to work for over 21 years as a diet clerk and later as a resource center support specialist, earning the honor of being voted her department’s ‘Values of Action’ nominee.

If not for the debilitating pancreatitis, eventually diagnosed in 2007, Marlene would still be working today along side her very close friends at the job she so dearly loved.  Marlene took great pleasure in helping others, especially the patients.  Her kindness and generosity had no bounds.

Marlene will be deeply missed by all her coworkers, friends and family, especially her brothers Joe and Dave, and sister Barb.  Now that Marlene is free from her health battles, we will picture her in heaven partaking in all the activities she so tremendously loved like travelling, thrill-riding on roller coasters, attending concerts and Angels’ games, eating in restaurants, going to the movies and perhaps playing a little blackjack and a slot machine or two!
