  1. Kristin Etter says:

Born in Los Angeles, my mother was a California girl. She grew from a little blond child with a Dutch Boy bob into a pretty teen with blue-green eyes and honey colored hair. She learned to play the piano as a young girl and it was a life-long interest. She could play classical pieces as well as contemporary music with aplomb. She lived through the Great Depression and World War II with many a story to tell of those challenging times. She lost her older brother, Wallace, at Pearl Harbor – a tragedy that cut a hole in her heart. She married my dad, Alfred Snykers, in 1946. They had 3 children together – Donald, Kristin and Scott. In addition to her eclectic taste in music, she loved looking youthful and glamorous – dressing in colorful prints and glitzy earrings. She liked high heels, but eventually replaced those with Van’s tennis shoes in vibrant prints. She loved the French language and culture. She was a history buff, a follower of politics and wasn’t afraid to share her opinions. She was proud of her Scottish, Irish and English heritage, especially the Scottish. She will be laid to rest at Pacific View cemetery overlooking the ocean that was so much a part of her life.
