Obituary

MARION RINDERER

Marion Frieda Rinderer (nee Michael) died at 11:40 pm on August 17, 2023 following a long struggle with dementia. She was 94 years old.

Marion was born on December 27, 1928 in Troy, Illinois, the youngest of three children of Fremont Jacob Michael and Louise Lena Siegrist Michael. She moved with her family to nearby Highland, IL as a young child where she grew up and spent her youth and early adult years. She graduated from Highland High School and went to college at Eastern Illinois Teachers College (now University) in Charleston, IL. Upon returning to Highland she began a career teaching typing, shorthand and office practice at Highland High School. She married her high school sweetheart, Anthony David "Tony" Rinderer (b. 1929, d. 1993) on August 11, 1951. Marion and Tony had four children and moved several times over the years as Tony changed architecture jobs. Places they moved to included Midland, MI, Grand Rapids, MI, Sunnyvale, CA and then ending up in Orange County, CA where they moved several times and lived in Fullerton, Laguna Niguel, Dana Point, Rancho Santa Margarita, Aliso Viejo, Las Flores, Ladera Ranch and finally Lake Forest.

Marion's life was characterized primarily by her unconditional love for her children and their families. The thing she most enjoyed was being with her family at family celebrations and gatherings. She has been to more youth sporting events, band concerts and music gigs, PTA meetings and school plays than her family can count. Her family knew that she would always be there for them. She also loved her many friends and took great delight in getting together and having fun with friends. Her hobbies and enjoyments included reading, knitting, crossword puzzles, traveling and collecting – she sure loved her many many collections! And Christmas was her favorite time of year – she was known to family and friends as "Mrs. Santa Claus" and put lots of time and effort into decorating, filling stockings and giving gifts. She was a committed Christian and found comfort and joy in her faith.

Marion was preceded in death by her parents, Fremont Jacob Michael and Louise Lena Siegrist Michael, her husband Anthony David Rinderer and her siblings Lillian Cora Michael Howe and Kenneth Edwin "Bud" Michael. She is survived and missed by her:

  • Children – Monica Jo "Nikki Rinderer, Alan Donn "Andy" Rinderer, Robert Anthony "Rob" Rinderer and Scott Michael Rinderer
