Obituary

The world lost a beloved mother and friend, Marie Trujillo, on December 13th, 2022, after her battle with cancer. She was surrounded by family, love, and care during this time and is survived by her two sons Raymond West and Paul West, and her three grandchildren Michael, Ella, and Noah. Marie was immensely proud of her family and enjoyed spending time with her sons and grandkids. She will be remembered for her warm smile, her contagious laughter, and her empathy and care for others.

Marie was born in Springer, New Mexico and has fond memories growing up with her 10 siblings. She eventually headed to California to start a new life out west. Once in California, she worked various jobs in different industries before finding her calling working with special needs children in the education field. Marie worked in the Long Beach Unified School District for over 25 years as a Paraeducator. Throughout her career, she touched many students’ lives, their families, and the teachers she worked with.

Marie will also be remembered for her profound love for the Lord her Savior and Father God. At a young age, she felt a calling to the Lord that continued to the day of her passing. She sought the Lord daily through prayer, reading of the Bible, and serving the Church.

Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, January 7th at 9 a.m. at the O’Connor Funeral Home in Laguna Hills. The burial will take place at 11 a.m. at the El Toro Memorial Park. While flowers are welcome, the family insists donations are made in support of cancer research.

Paul and Ray, your mother will be missed by so many. I sure miss her. Your mom was like a sister to me. We could talk about anything. I could confide anything to her.
It has been 48 years since I met your mother & father. I do so miss your mom. Her early texts ( sometimes 1:30 a.m. or 3:30 a.m. “good morning Ms VickieLou.” Your mom’s smile & laughter is something everyone will remember for a very long time.
