Obituary

Marie Claire Casper passed away the evening of March 11, 2017 at her home in Laguna Woods, California. She was born August 12, 1939 in Mt. Carmel, Pennsylvania to her parents Andrew J. and Helen Doraski. She grew up and resided in Lorain, Ohio before moving to California. Marie took a lot of pride in her work as a Sales Representative to the retail food business. She loved decorating and updating her home furnishings. You could count on Marie for baking special Christmas cookies. She was always up to the minute on what was going on politically. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her children and staying in touch with all of her family. Marie was a quiet natured, very caring person and always very good to all her family who loved her dearly, and will be deeply missed by all.

Marie is survived by her husband of 58 years John A. Casper; a son John Casper and wife Judith of San Francisco, CA; a daughter Susan Garred and husband Mark of San Clemente, CA; a granddaughter Jennifer Garred and grandson Ryan Garred; a sister Joan Teli of Charlotte, NC; a sister Peggy Zehel and husband Ron of Palm Springs, CA; and many nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank Mike Uyking for the excellent care he provided. Marie is preceded in death by her parents, a brother Kenneth Doraski and a sister Dorothy Moldovan.

A Celebration of Life Mass and Memorial will be offered for Marie on Saturday, April 8th at 9am

  3. To my ever dearest mother-in-law:

It broke our hearts to lose you, but you did not go alone. A part of us went with you, the day God took you home. If tears could build a stairway and heartaches make a lane, we’d walk our way to heaven, and bring you back again. In life we loved you dearly, in death we love you still, in our hearts you hold a place no once could ever fill.

I miss when we used to go shopping and have lunch in Nordstrom after. Miss you Marie!

  4. When I first met Marie nearly forty years ago, I was immediately impressed by her warmth, sincerity and effervescence. Throughout the intervening years, she always remained that same kind, friendly person who had a unique ability to make everyone feel at ease. I will always remember her fondly and in my mind she will be as she was during her Lorain, OH years (which is how I’m imagining she is right now)’laughing, munching on hors d’oeuvres, and sharing a chilled white wine with her sister Dorothy. My thoughts and prayers are with her family as I know they will surely miss her.

  5. John and Susan – we met your mother Marie on July 25, 2009 at John & Judith wedding. She was so busy coordinating your wedding site. I vividly remember how stunning and elegant she looked in her brown gown along with your preppy father in his vested black suit lovingly walking at your wedding ceremony (See posted photos). This is how I remember your mother…stunning, beautiful, sweet and hospitable. I know it’s devastating to loose a mother. They say that time heals all things. I wonder if that is true. May the memories of your mother stay and the footprints she left in you hearts bring comfort and makes you both a bit less sad. We will keep the Casper family in our prayers. Rest in peace Marie!
Love from: Jun and Edel Policarpio
