Marianne Ilse Hauss

Marianne Hauss passed away on Friday, March 22, 2024, She was 86. Marianne was born on February 27, 1938 in Berlin, Germany to Karl Friedrich and Lilli Troost.

In 1947 after WWll Marianne and her family were able to leave Germany and headed to Manizales, Colombia with the help of their Uncle Martin who was currently working and living in Colombia at the time.  Marianne’s Uncle was able to find a home for her and her family in Manizales, Colombia, where she grew up.

Marianne studied nursing and graduated from the University of Bogota Colombia.  In 1963 at the age of 25, she decided to come to the United States with the help of a sponsor and ended up in Sacramento, CA. She started her career in nursing and soon after met our father Ronald Campbell. Ronald was involved in a serious car accident and Marianne was the nurse who took care of him. In 1964 they were married.

In 1966 her first daughter, Caroline was born and in 1970 her second daughter, Joanne was born. Marianne loved to be active. She loved playing tennis, walking, riding bikes, and swimming. She loved shopping and traveling. She was such a hard worker. Marianne would often work the night shift as a nurse from 7pm-7am so she would be able to make her daughter’s breakfast and take them to school. She also sold Avon and Tupperware on the side. She helped out at school whenever she could and never missed a school function or game.

Marianne was also able to speak three different languages, German, Spanish, and English. Marianne left a lasting impression on everyone she met. She loved meeting people. She would make friends with anyone and everyone. She had a warm and caring personality, and brought joy to people’s hearts through her ability to make people laugh, her contagious smile, and her positive outlook on life.

Marianne was the sweetest most loving mother to her two daughters, and the most loving Grandmother to her two grandsons, Brayden and Brandon her biggest joy.  Marianne will continue to touch the hearts of those who hold onto her memory in the years to come.

Marianne is survived by her two Sisters, Barbara Hauss de Villegas, and Carola Simpson, her two daughters, Caroline Hollingsworth (Tim Hollingsworth), and Joanne Brown (Robert Brown), grandsons Brayden and Brandon Brown.

We will miss you, Marianne. We remember all the fun times we had at work at Kaiser, and the many dinners and parties.

  2. Worked with Marianne at Kaiser Morse Ave. She was a fun person, and loved to laugh! My condolences to her family. She was tall and beautiful! Always had a smile to share and could convey that smile over the phone, when she talked to patients!

  3. Marianne was a wonderful person. We often took walks at lunchtime at work and I cherish those talks. She cared about everyone and everything that she came in contact with. She adored her daughters! She was a treasure and will be missed.
