Margaret J. Bird was born in Columbus Junction, Iowa, on June 18, 1917. She left the family farm to attend Monmouth College in Illinois where she earned a teaching credential and taught High School English. In the later years of WWII she worked for the USO, and moved to California in 1946. She was an accompanist for the Santa Monica City Schools, and blessed several churches as an organist and pianist, both here and in Seattle, Washington where she lived for several years. Margaret resided in Temecula for the past 30 years where she was actively involved as a homemaker, piano teacher, PEO member, and church pianist. The Lord took her home on February 26, 2008. Margaret is survived by her husband, Barrett, daughter Sandy Stone Tim, grandchildren Erin Dimry Charles, Aimee Mella Rudy, Adam Stone Amber, Ian Stone, and 10 great-grandchildren. Margaret left a living legacy of kindness, gentleness, patience, and an unshakable faith in God. She reached out in love to so many people, all of whom will dearly miss her. A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, March 8, 3:00 pm at the Temecula United Methodist Church.
