Obituary

Margaret Ann Frost, resident of Lake Forest, CA, age 82, passed away on November 10, 2013. She is survived by her sons Don and Doug; her grandchildren Nate, Dan, and Rachel; her great grandchildren Gideon and Autumn; and her siblings Mary Lou, Patti, Bob and Marilyn.

Margaret was a devoted wife, mother and nana whose greatest pleasure was having her family over to visit and share her delicious cooking. Margaret was born and raised in Gowanda, New York. After graduating from Gowanda High School, she attended Doyle Beauty School in Buffalo, NY to get her certification as a beautician. Her sons remember that she continued to work out of her home for many years. Margaret loved music and singing. Several Marine Corps bases including New River, Cherry Point, Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii and El Toro were home for her and her family. She was active in Cub Scouts, Officers’ Wives’ League, and the American Legion Auxiliary, and she served as a volunteer at the VA hospital in Long Beach.

Margaret was a breast cancer survivor; she often said she appreciated her “cancer-free” birthday more than her original one.

The family would like to thank the caring staff at Cranbrook Senior Living in Tustin and Vitas Hospice for their recent care of Margaret.

A family graveside service will be held at Riverside National Cemetery in Riverside CA on Tuesday December 3 at 11am. She will rest next to her husband, Lt Col Donald E Frost.

  2. I am so sorry to hear about the loss of Margaret. I thought of your parents often, although I have not seen or spoken to them in probably 20 years. They were both wonderful people and friends to my parents. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this very difficult time. I know they are both watching down on you all from heaven.

  3. Frost Family:
Several years ago we stopped receiving Christmas cards from Margaret, so thought something may have happened, and just found out that she had passed. She and Don were like a second set of parents to me in the many years I knew them. I first went to work for Don as a young 2ndLt at Tustin, and he immediately took me under his wing and provided the foundation for my career in the Corps. Right beside him was Margaret, always having me over for dinner at their home in El Toro, and being a great friend to both me and Janet my wife. One could not ask for a nicer, funnier person! We really enjoyed the time we spent with her.
    God bless.
