Obituary

Marcelle M. Bailey, born March 3, 1925 in Irma, Alberta, Canada, world traveler, nurturer and yodeler extraordinaire, passed peacefully the first day of spring, March 21, 2016, surrounded by her loving family. She leaves in her memory numerous funny stories, many of which found her in a pickle of some sorts, yet always managing to gracefully exit one only to move on to another. She had a knack of learning the smallest of details from complete strangers, striking up life-long friendships while in line at the grocery store, to one of her many travel adventures. She was the epitome of love, compassion, tolerance, grace and kindness, and part fireball all wrapped up in one cute little package, placed on this earth for so many to love, learn from and cherish.

She leaves behind her children: Marc Bailey, Stephen Bailey, David Bailey and Michelle Sowle, son-in-law Greg Sowle; daughters-in-law Rebecca Bailey and Sally Bailey; grandchildren Kelsey Elmore, Kaylin Bailey and David Bailey; brother Victor Carter; and many relatives in her homeland she so loved of Alberta, Canada – fondly referred to by all as Auntie Babe.

We can only imagine the joyous reunion held when she passed into Heaven, joining her mum, brother and sisters and friends previously lost. In the wise words of her granddaughter-in-crime..go get ’em, Tiger.

    Dear Bailey family,
The Bigelow family has such wonderful memories of your mom. She was a sweet, sweet lady. Looking to see if she was out on the front porch became part of our mom’s (Louise Bigelow) daily walk. Their windshield wiper wave to each other with arms extended above their heads was the highlight of Mom’s day. And we all loved joining in, too. Their passing on the same day is a precious gift to both families. And having their photos on the website side by side is yet another gift. We will think of Marcelle each time we drive down the street and pass her home. May you all find peace at this time.
    Love,
    The Bigelow Family

  3. To the Bailey Family, we have many wonderful memories of your mom, Marcelle. We knew her as Aunty Babe, a golfer extraordinaire, traveler of many countries, carefree & adventurous, lover of the outdoors & the beauties of nature. Carefree and never in a hurry… Always smiling, laughing or singing, sometimes even yodeling. Taking in & making the best of everything life had to offer. We love you, we will miss you, we will always keep you in our hearts! Thank you for the memories… Our sincere sympathy goes out to all of the family, thank you for sharing your mom, grandmother & mother in law with us… With our Love, Faye, Wilbur, Janette, Jared & Stephanie xxxxxoooooo

  5. I always considered Marnie one of my few true friends. Oddly, we seemed to follow each other, almost half way around the world, totally by chance. We met at a party in the early 70’s in San Bernardino, again about 1980 in Riyadh (totally by surprise) with her walking into medical records at the hospital where I was working, we ended up working in same office. She returned to CA, we lost track, forward to 1987, we both happened to be in the San Diego area, me in Oceanside, Marnie down the road in San. Marcos, then again we moved to Laguna Woods, she was living with Michelle in Laguna Niguel, again just down the road, and eventually she moved just around the corner from me in Laguna Woods. I think Karma kept placing us near one another. She was always kind and so much fun to be around. Dan and I. shared good meals and fond memories with Marnie and Marc. Two great people! Marc, if ever in the Chico area, please keep in touch. Same phone number.

Marnie enjoyed a spiritual club which we both joined inLaguna Woods. She, much like myself, would think a lot about “life after life” and we both agreed there was something peaceful and joyful awaiting us after this crazy existence with all the disappointments and suffering. I remember her quoting once “my father’s house has many mansions”, etc. I am sure is in one now and will be watching over her family from above. Rest in peace, Marnie. You deserve it. Love, Jan and Dan
