Obituary
Marc David Packard, known to all as Dave, passed away peacefully at 65 years old on July 2, 2025, in Newport Beach, California, surrounded by his family.
Born in 1960 in Bryants Pond, Maine, Dave graduated from Telstar Regional High School in 1978 and from Bryant College in Rhode Island in 1982 with a degree in Business Administration. He moved to California and began his career in accounting as a CPA. In 1988, he established his business M. David Packard, an Accountancy Corporation and began serving his community as a private tax preparer. In 1995, he became Chief Financial Officer of Landmark Companies in Newport Beach. Despite being diagnosed with leukemia in 2021, he continued both careers right up until his untimely death.
Dave spent many years serving the church with his wife, Sally, leading a college group and later a high school group ministry. Their home was always open for fellowship and food, and was frequently filled with friends, family, neighbors, and anyone looking for community. Many lost teens came to know and love Jesus through his ministry and mentorship. He participated in men’s Bible Study groups for many years and drew great comfort from the support and fellowship of these groups during his long illness.
Dave is survived by his wife, Sally, his three children, Shelley (Tom), Katie (Brennon), and Michael (Amber), and four grandchildren.

Dear Sally,
Dear Cousins,
Dear beloved littles,
Dad and Jodi,
I was so sad to hear about Dave’s passing. He was such a joyful, optimistic presence—someone whose light seemed to shine even brighter when things got hard. His deep spirituality, steady kindness, and radiant smile touched everyone around him.
To me, he was always “Uncle Marc,” but with only nine years between us, he felt more like an older cousin.
I know he was deeply proud to be a father and grandfather, to lead his family and chosen family in faith, through joyful and challenging times. I hope you feel his love surrounding you even now.
Please know that I’m holding all of you close in my thoughts and heart during this time.
With love and sympathy,
Jen
