Obituary

We are deeply saddened to announce the demise of our beloved mother, Mrs. Kamalamma Nair on August 9, 2019, in Laguna Hills, California. Wife of late Major V. T Nair, she is survived by her daughter Anitha, son Arun, and their families. A loving wife, an amazing mother, a caring mother-in-law and a dedicated teacher, she left an indelible impression with her kindness and selflessness.

A Presidential Teaching Award recipient, she was an inspiration to her students, and helped shape the lives and careers of many.

We will miss her dearly but she will continue to live in the hearts of those she loved and cherished.

Kamalam madam, as we called her at KV Meenambakkam, was always known for her gentleness and even though she was strict at times I don’t remember her ever being harsh at anyone. She taught the biology classes in a very joyful and relaxed manner making all students very comfortable.

Further, personally I remember her encouraging students to participate in events outside the school to bring greater laurels to KVM. She was very enthusiastic and a well spirited person, and I personally remember how thoroughly happy she was when she had sent me and my classmate to participate at an event and luckily we had won it.

A really affectionate, caring and cheerful person, we will really miss you madam. May your soul rest in peace and may your family members and members of the KV fraternity get the courage to overcome this great loss.

  5. Kamalam Nair madam was an inspiration during my days at KVM and the time spent in her classes/events are one of the fondest memories of my school days. Her commitment to the field of biology and nature was the first time I felt humanity’s care for our planet and ability to help maintain our environment. She will always remain one of my (and I can speak for my class of 2001 Xth) favorite teachers.
My deepest condolences to the family.
