Lydias Obituary

Lydia Ruth-Mitchell Scialabba, age 57, loving mother to daughter, Sophia and adoring wife to husband, Anthony Scialabba, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family in the early hours of the 30th of October 2022 after a courageous 10-year battle with breast cancer. Lydia was born on the 25th of October 1965 to her mother, Susan Dobbs Mitchell (“Dearest”) and her father, Sam Mitchell (“PopPop”). She grew up in Atlanta, Georgia, attended The Heiskell School and Mt. Vernon Christian Academy, and continued her education at Samford University in Birmingham, AL.

Lydia was the most caring, kind, and loving creation of God whom her loved ones and friends have ever known. Throughout her lifetime, she devoted herself to Jesus, her daughter Sophia, and those around her. She loved being a mother most of all. She also enjoyed serving in the classrooms as a photographer, capturing memories of her beautiful daughter. Lydia had a passion for animals and music and was drawn to the beauty of anything with glitter, sparkles, and God’s beautiful colors. She always had a smile on her face and loved spending time with her family and friends. She lived life sprinkling the sweet fragrance of Jesus wherever she went. Lydia’s joy and lovingkindness was abounding in her every word and deed. Even throughout her suffering, her faith in the Lord Jesus Christ guided her precious life all of her days. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends who adored her with all of their hearts.

Lydia is survived by her husband, Anthony; daughter, Sophia; parents, Susan and Sam; sister, SuSu Scialabba and brother-in-law, Jeffrey; sister, Jennifer Goodman; nephews, Lucas and Samuel; nieces, Lily, Ava, and Kate; mother-in-law, Judith Barr (“Omi”); pets, Martini and Kahlúa; countless aunts, uncles, and cousins from the Scialabba, Mitchell, and Dobbs families; and many, many precious Christian friends.

My Precious Lydialicious- my Armpish most Beautiful Bestielicious- I miss you so much already that my heart hurts. You must be dancing or running around in heaven but knowing you, you are probably at our Lord Jesus’ feet listening to Him, adoring Him. I’m so happy you are fully healed and that your pain is gone. I’m so happy you are now free from this horrible cancer that ravaged your body. You are probably shining like the stars in the sky. I can’t wait to see you. Until we meet again dear one… love you mucho. Mway!
