Obituary
Lucile Verna Monteer 92, was born August 6, 1924 in Ogden, Utah and was called home to our Lord on May 16, 2017. Lucile was preceeded in death by her husband of 62 years, Harold, in 2008. She is survived by sons David (Martha), Charles, Robert (Jacqueline) and daughter Margo (Gary) Carmichael. And loving grandmother to 8 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Whether it was dressing as a clown at her children’s birthdays, listening intently to a grandchild’s story or visiting with a friend Lucile always was kind, gracious and loving.
Lucile was a lifelong devout Mormon and member of Relief Society. One of Luciles passions and gifts was that of being an accomplished artist. Many of her oil paintings have won awards and have been displayed publicly. Some of her works were exhibited at the Mission Viejo Library for all to enjoy. In addition to her painting she loved music and played the organ.
Lucile will be missed by so very many people as she was a woman filled with compassion, loyalty and spirit. A loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, cousin and aunt. And a friend for life for those lucky enough to have met her.
Viewing will be on Thursday June 1, 3 to 5 pm at O’Connor Mortuary, 25301 Alicia Parkway, Laguna Hills with a small graveside service on June 2nd at 11am at El Toro Memorial Park, 2571 Trabuco Road, Lake Forest. A luncheon provided by Relief Society in Lucile’s honor will follow at the Latter Day Saints church.

We have fond memories of visiting with Lucile and the laughs and good conversation we had while enjoying cards and board games. She was a wonderful baker and may have even had the motto, “Eat Dessert First.” -Dave & Marty Monteer

Just heard of Lucille Monteer’s passing!
Lucille and her husband, Harold, were best of friends with my parents, Arly and Lois Glazier. They went everywhere together while we children (Jeff, Gary, Charisse, Jim) were growing up. They always had such good times in each others company, and I (Charisse Glazier French) was priveleged enough to get to know them well. Often as a teenager I would go out with my parents and the Monteer’s to dinner. Harold was always so funny, and Lucille so kind and cheerful herself. (I too remember she was a clown at one of my early birthday parties!!!!!) Long into my adulthood, my mother and I (after my father passed in 2002) would go visit Lucille and Harold in Mission Viego. I always counted them like extended family, and have great memories. The Monteer’s always liked to play board games and bridge. My parents did not play bridge, but when they spent time with the Monteer’s in their home they always played some kind of board game!!!! Mom and I last visited Lucille about 2 years ago before my mom moved to Texas with my brother, Gary Glazier, and his wife, Jody. Yes, we played a board game with Lucille and she took us out to a nice lunch along some pretty lake in the Mission Viego area My mom, continues to live with my brother where she has a separate apt on my brother’s property. She is now 86 years old and in pretty good health, but struggles some with her indepenence, and I am so thankful Mom is now living with family. I and my husband sold our family home in Rancho Cucamonga to move north and downsize in Ventura, and bought a second home in Oklahoma where we spend 1/2 the year.
I know my mother is not able to write, but I did call her and tell her of Lucille’s passing and she was sad, and thanks Jackie for reaching out and calling me to pass on the word. We both send our sympathy and well wishes to all her children and family.
Sorry, we were unable to attend the services being out of the area, but now know Lucille is at peace and in heaven with Harold. And, we know where she and Harold are laid to rest, as we were both able to attend Harold’s services years ago.
