Louie Guido's Obituary

Louie Guido    1931-2023

Louie Guido passed on the morning of February 1 st , 2023 at Freedom Village Retirement Community in Lake Forest, California.  He was 91 yrs old. He had been tested for Covid and was positive previous to him passing.  He was born in 1931 during the depression days: a cute Catholic boy, the only boy in the family getting into trouble at times.  Most of the time he did what was asked.

He had 4 sisters, the oldest one named Nina who died in 1994 of cancer.  His parents came from Italy to what they had been told was the Promised Land, America! Louie's parents met somehow in Sacramento and married.  After high school Louie and his friend enlisted in the Navy.  He went to San Diego University to gain an education thru the GI bill.  Louie met a girl in the Navy named Joan McGregor.  She was from Provo, Utah.  They married in 1954 and started their family in San Diego.  After being married to Joan a few years later, he joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.  Louie and Joan had homes in San Carlos, San Diego and Casa Del Sol for many years.  With the help of others he built a life for him and his family.  He was a business owner in the electronic industry and an insurance man for Blue Shield.  Joan and he had been married 69 yrs. She died before him in 2000 in California.

Survivors: Sisters- Stella Barnhouse of California, Ida Bowers of California, Gloria Furtado of California.  Children-Donald E (Tina) of  California, Linda D (Robert) Jackson of Cedar City, Utah, David A (Leslie) of Sandy, Utah, Lorraine D McGill of California, plus many grandkids, great grandkids, nieces, and nephews who loved him and will miss him dearly.

Thank you to Freedom Village for the care they gave him in his last days.  He chose to live there to have the care he would need during his elderly years.  He will have a viewing at 10am-12am on the 23 rd of Feb and service at 11 am at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Saints: Los Aliso Chapel on 23850 Los Alisos Blvd, Mission Viejo, CA 92691, Bishop Barney presiding.  O'Connor Mortuary in Laguna Hills was part of this process.  The Interment will be at National Cemetery in Riverside at 2:30 pm, alongside of his wife Joan with military honors.
