Loren was born January 24, 1940 in Fredonia, Kansas to Eddie Matney, 23 and Mildred Copp, 20. Loren had two brothers, Billie Duane born in 1937, passed in 1940 and Jackie Leon born in 1944 and passed in 1946. Loren then had one sister, Deborah Eileen born in 1954. He attended schools in San Bernardino and graduated in 1958 from Pacific High School.

Loren married Anna Younger in 1959. He spent some time working in the signal shops of the Santa Fe Railroad until such time he went to work for California Electric. Cal Electric merged with Southern California Edison Co., and in 1964 he was transferred to the Long Beach office and then in 1966 he transferred again to the Ventura area. In 1977 he was transferred to the Orange County office. And at the end of his working career, he was transferred back to Long Beach. He had a 33 year career with Edison and retired November 1, 1995.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Anna Matney, his 3 daughters, Sheryl Blickhan, her husband Thomas, Kerri Wood, her husband David, Robin Miller, her friend Fred Arsnault, 8 grandchildren TJ, Ben, his wife Jennifer and Mathew, Kira, her husband Todd, Nicole, Joshua, Griffin, his wife Becca, Gavin, his wife Heather. 12 great grandchildren Caige, Peyton, Owen, Alexi, Arizonia, William, Zachary, Addison, Bently, Cameron, Paige and Ivy Nicole.

Loren was a family man all the way, and enjoyed his hobbies of recording and playing country music, woodworking and trying to make something out of nothing. He was always thinking up new projects to try. As a young man he enjoyed his bowling team, where we traveled with the team to many tournaments over the years.

He will be missed by all of us!
