Obituary

Lisa Montgomery
October 24, 1963 – May 3, 2025

Lisa Marie Montgomery (née Rosko), beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on May 3, 2025. She was 61 years old.

Born on October 24, 1963, in Elmhurst, Illinois, Lisa was the cherished daughter of Thomas and Lou Ann Rosko, and one of four girls. She shared a close bond with her sisters Christine, Marcia, and Rebecca. The Rosko family had countless adventures together, and are now all together watching over the family.

Lisa graduated from Georgetown University in 1985 with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and devoted her career to caring for others as a registered nurse. Her intelligence, compassion, and dedication left a lasting impact on everyone she encountered. She moved to California right after, and began her career at Hoag Hospital. That led her to St. Joseph’s Hospital, where during that time, she met her husband.

On February 9, 1991, Lisa married the love of her life, Darin Montgomery. They shared 34 years of marriage, and lasting memories that will never be forgotten. Together, they built a life rooted in love, laughter, and deep family connection. Her greatest accomplishment was being a mother to her kids, Alexandra & Cole, creating memories that will be forever shared. Lisa’s heart grew even fuller with the birth of her granddaughter, Fallon, on October 13, 2023.

Lisa’s family will miss her immensely, yet they find comfort in knowing that her spirit is always with them.

Affectionately known as “Liza” to those closest to her, Lisa found joy in the simple things—gardening, watching soap operas, HGTV, and The Price Is Right, shopping, playing board games, and sipping a Diet Coke and vodka while spending time with family. Her beloved dogs, Jax and Bella, were always by her side, just another part of the family she adored so deeply.

Lisa is survived by her devoted husband, Darin Montgomery of Trabuco Canyon, CA; her daughter, Alexandra Hall (Jimmy) of Ojai, CA; her son, Cole Montgomery (Katie) of Boise, ID; her precious granddaughter, Fallon Hall of Ojai, CA ; her mother-in-law, Martha Montgomery; and many nieces, nephews, and friends who will miss her deeply.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Lou Ann Rosko; her sisters, Christine Redmond, Marcia May, and Rebecca Wells; and her father-in-law, Jerry Montgomery.

Lisa’s vibrant spirit, generous heart, and fierce love for her family will be remembered forever. As she often said to those she loved:

“Love you to the moon and back.”

In lieu of flowers, we have set up a memorial page in honor of Lisa at, The National Brain Tumor Society. Any donation is greatly appreciated in remembering her.

I am so thankful I got to know Lisa! Together, we planned two fun, memorable events for Cole and Katie (BSU 🧡💙 grad party and 💒 their wedding). Lisa was all about celebrating and toasting with champagne! (The first time I met her, I believe she was drinking a flight of it! 🍾) I am grateful for her guidance with wedding planning (and the side conversations we had about the kids, after they left the Zoom calls😂).

When Cole and Katie moved into their first apartment, Lisa deep cleaned it like crazy! After she left, and I was there helping with easy tasks, she called to check in. I told her I was ironing the new curtains. She laughed and said she had wanted to do that, but the kids had said no one will notice. Great minds think alike💕.

Lisa, thank you for loving, embracing and welcoming our daughter into your family. Thank you for sharing Cole with us. I know that you will be looking down (toasting with champagne 🥂), as your family grows and evolves. You will be missed my friend.🩷
