Obituary

Linda My Nu Thi Maya
February 8, 1992 -January 26,2021

Linda My Nu Thi Maya, 28, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, January 26, 2021 surrounded by her loved ones in her lrvine, CA home after a year of battling cancer.

Born on February 8, 1992 in Stockton, CA, Linda was the youngest daughter of 7 siblings from Vietnamese immigrants, Dao Tran and Doan Thi Vo. She attended Moreno Valley College achieving a multitude of associates degrees and later receiving a BA in English Creative Writing from California State University, San Bernardino.

Linda was a daughter, sister, aunt, friend, and wife, known for her bubbly and carefree personality. She was beautiful, standing at around 5′ 2″ with long, dark hair that she often dyed in shades of blonde and brunette, large brown eyes, small hands, and deep voice. Linda always expressed her love for food and had a passion for traveling around the world. Known as a social butterfly and the life of every party, she was constantly beaming with positive energy. As someone who always stood up for what she believed in, she was unafraid to speak her mind when it came to standing up for what’s right. She loved singing, hiking, going to the beach, cooking or mixing beverages, taking pictures, and always seeking opportunities for growth and self-improvement. No matter what obstacles crossed her path, she never gave up, putting her utmost effort into everything she did.

On February 26, 2020, Linda and Carlos got married as Mr. and Mrs. Maya. After being diagnosed with stomach cancer in late-January 2020, Linda chose to keep her diagnosis a secret to prevent bringing any sadness to her friends. Throughout her battle, she remained strong and fought until her very last breath with Carlos, who remained by her side “in sickness and in health.”

Linda will be survived by her loving husband and in-laws, her father and mother, brothers and sisters, and nieces and nephews. She will be remembered as the strong-willed, selfless, bubbly, adventurous, energetic, humorous, kind-hearted, outgoing and beautiful person that she was known as. Linda will always remain in our thoughts and be a constant reminder for us to always stay positive and resilient.

Linda, thank you for making a positive impact on the lives of many. Our thoughts and memories of you will be carried on and cherished. Rest peacefully to the warm rays of the sun, the scent of the salty seas, the sound of splashing waves and cawing seagulls, and the wet coolness of the ocean tides. We love you, always.
