Obituary

LANDEN, Linda Kay (née Gainsley), passed away Easter morning, April 5, 2015. Linda was born on May 6, 1935 in Ann Arbor, Michigan. She received a Bachelor’s degree from Eastern Michigan University in 1958. She moved to California in 1960 and taught fourth grade in Garden Grove. She married Terrence Stephen Landen on August 24, 1963 in Ann Arbor, Michigan at St. Francis Catholic Church. In 1964, she became a full-time homemaker for her growing family and relocated from Lompoc, California to Mission Viejo in July 1974. Linda and her husband Terry spent 12 wonderful years in retirement traveling throughout the US and Europe.

Linda was a remarkable sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She always cherished time with her family. Linda loved to sing and was a soprano in the St. Kilian Church Choir and Saddleback College Choir for many years. She was a huge Angel’s baseball fan. Although reserved, Linda often surprised people with her wit and sense of humor. She had a bright smile for everyone, a smile that reflected her kind and gentle spirit.

Linda is preceded in death by her husband, Terry; brother Dennis; and parents Hobart and Letha Gainsley. She is survived by her children, Craig, Christopher and Deborah; brother-in-law Tony Landen and his wife Jean of Santa Rosa, California; many nieces and nephews; grandchildren, Megan, Bret, Matthew and Nicholas; son-in-law Les Brazzel; daughter-in-law Jeanette Rivera; and grand-doggie Carola Sofia.

Linda’s life will be celebrated April 17th, 2015 at 11:00 at St. Kilian Catholic Church located at 26872 Estanciero Drive, Mission Viejo, CA 92691. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be sent to The American Cancer Society.
