Obituary

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Linda DeGuzman Armas, our loving and devoted mother, and friend to all whose lives she touched. She left us peacefully on March 11, 2021 while surrounded by her children and their spouses in San Clemente, CA. She was in her 85th year and had witnessed incredible changes in her world.

She was born and raised in San Carlos City, Pangasinan, Philippines to Hipolito DeGuzman and Margarita Bernal. She was the third of five children.  At the age of 23 she married Joseph U. Armas and emigrated to the United States to live the American dream and finally settled in Milpitas, California.

She lived a full life as a wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, homemaker and friend. She raised her 4 children on her own in the ’80s as a single mother while simultaneously working a full-time and part-time jobs. She retired as a dedicated employee for the County of Santa Clara after 25+ years of service.

Linda was a dedicated mother, grandmother and great-grandmother first and foremost.  She treasured her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and embraced every moment with them.

She is the loving, devoted, and proud mother of Earl (Eileen C.) Armas, Cheryl (Michael) Louie, Glen (Eileen M.) Armas, and Kathy (Michelle Rousset) Armas. Cherished grandmother of Almia (Jason) Diaz, Allen (Emily) Armas, Catrina (Jonathan) Aguilar, Camille (Daniel) Chung, Cameron Armas, and Garrett Louie. Great grandmother of Mailyna Mayate, Jaslyne Diaz, and Estelle Aguilar.  She has also inspired the lives of many nephews and nieces. All of them she loved and touched deeply.

She loved to cook, travel, entertain family and friends, keep an immaculate house, knit slippers and blankets for everyone, and tend to her plants, especially her orchid garden. She was an avid bowler and enjoyed weekly outings to casinos and bingo halls. She always looked forward to watching her grandchildren at special celebrations and in their sporting events.

She loved sharing her love of food as she would not hesitate to treat you to her favorite restaurants, especially after a winning night at bingo. Through the years, her favorite food outing seemed to be taking her grandchildren to McDonalds so that she, too, could enjoy a side of fries to go along with her Fish Filet or Big Mac.

She made friends everywhere she went especially during her bowling and bingo gatherings where her friends loved being with her because of her kindness and generosity.

She was dedicated to her Catholic faith attending mass every week and completing her hourly prayers every night.

She will be sorely missed by her family and friends.  All whom loved her dearly will never forget her patience, kindness, generosity, and undying love and caring for them. She will be forever in our hearts.

Please join us in celebrating her life.
