Obituary
LILIA D. GAMPON
On Wednesday, September 13, 2023, Lilia Delariarte Gampon, loving wife, mother of five, and grandmother of six, passed away at age 80, in Irvine, California.
Born on December 10, 1942, in Dumangus, Iloilo, Philippines, Lilia graduated from Cebu Velez General Hospital School of Nursing in 1964. In search of better opportunities, she set off for the United States in 1966 and met her future husband, Bart Gampon, in Chicago, Illinois. The couple married in 1969, and after the birth of their first two daughters, Maria and Lorna, they moved from the Windy City to sunny Southern California. They settled in Orange County and welcomed three more children (Liza, Mark, and Belinda) to their family. Lilia was a registered nurse for over 37 years, retiring from the post-partum unit at Fountain Valley Regional Hospital in 2013.
Lilia loved gardening, cooking, and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was a devout Catholic known for caring for her large family while also working nights at the hospital. She always provided love and support for her family. Lilia enjoyed a good cup of coffee and donut.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 53 years, Bart Gampon; her five children, Maria, Lorna, Liza, Mark, and Belinda; her six grandchildren, Christopher, Moira, Danielle (Ellie), Cameron, Ben, and Dixie; her brother, Castor, and many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation may be made to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul (ssvpusa.org) or American Kidney Fund (kidneyfund.org).
A private funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 3, 2023. Interment will follow at the Ascension Cemetery in Lake Forest, California.
