Leon Lee Hachey
June 9, 1927 ? Dec. 29, 2005

Lee Hachey, 78, died suddenly of a heart attack in his Laguna Niguel home on Dec. 29.  He leaves his beloved wife of 28 years, Jeanne Nelson, his children Steve Hachey, Kris Van Allen and Cindy Hamilton and his grandson, Ian Rash.
Lee brought his warm and vibrant life force to everything he did.  He was a marriage and family therapist and maintained a busy practice as a therapist, workshop leader and trainer until his retirement 5 years ago.  He was a fine carpenter and craftsman and enjoyed remodeling his homes and helping others on home projects.  He loved travel and enthusiastically took trips all over the world with his wife.
He wrote a memoir about his growing up years in the small town of Athol, Massachusetts called ?Growing Up By Myself In A Large Family.?  He donated all proceeds from the book to the Athol Historical Society.  He helped the society create an Athol History Month and funded a prize for an Athol History essay contest.  Hundreds of schoolchildren participated in it.  Lee relished the opportunity to hear from many old friends and dozens of new ones who contacted him after reading his book.
He served in the Navy during WWII where he was trained in electrical engineering.  He continued his education in that field and worked as an engineer for 20 years before becoming a therapist.
Lee's warming and loving spirit will be sorely missed by all who knew him.  A memorial service will be held on Jan. 3, Tuesday at 1 p.m. at the Marina Hills Clubhouse, 31461 Parc Vista West, Laguna Niguel.
