Obituary

Laurie Jan McClure was born on May 19, 1949, in Corvallis, Oregon, to Leslie and Jeannie Rhodes. She was the oldest of two children, with her younger brother, John, completing the family. After attending Oregon State University, Laurie traded the gray skies of the Pacific Northwest for the sunshine of Southern California, moving with a close friend in search of new adventures.
While working as a hostess at The Golden Bull Restaurant, she met John McClure, who was introduced to her by his father, Jack, the owner of the restaurant. John was immediately impressed by Laurie's warmth and charm. It was love at first sight, and the two were married on September 9, 1973.
Laurie and John began their life together in Los Angeles, in the Fairfax District. While Johnny worked for CBS Records, Laurie built her own career as a loan processor at CalFed. After John left CBS Records, they relocated to the town of Irvine in Orange County, which they believed would be an ideal place to raise a family.
Laurie and John built a life together in Irvine, raising two children, Katelyn and Kyle. Laurie was a devoted and loving mother. She enthusiastically supported Katelyn's and Kyle's interests, whether it was Kyle's passion for movie special effects or Katelyn's involvement in western pleasure horse competition.
Laurie also adored her daughter-in-law, Gracie, and her son-in-law, Michael Beaudoin, whom she lovingly referred to as her other children. She always looked forward to visits from Kyle and Gracie and their children (her "Denver family"). The McClures and Beaudoins enjoyed many wonderful trips and special dinners together.
Laurie and John shared a love of live music, jazz cruises, gatherings with friends, and trips to Maui with their close friends. Laurie also cherished time spent playing bridge with good friends, cooking, playing piano, and attending live music performances. She loved watching baseball, especially rooting for the Dodgers and her favorite player, Shohei Ohtani.
Her greatest joy in life, however, came from being "Grandma" to Lawson (11), Ty (10), Carson (10), and Vivienne (7). Nothing made her happier than spending time with them or watching the videos they shared. Laurie's kindness, humor, and joy for life touched everyone she met, and her love will forever remain in the hearts of her family and friends.
