Laurie Anne Kempton died on August 18th, 2017 at the age of 65, in Laguna Hills, CA, courageously battling illness.

Born April 24, 1952, in Portland, OR the eldest daughter of Catherine (Zeko) Weinberg and Robert Weinberg. Laurie lived in Eugene, OR for nearly 40 years, raised her three children there and managed a consumer marketing research firm. She moved to Aliso Viejo, CA in 2015, after her husband’s sudden death.

Laurie loved her family and spending time with her grandchildren.

From a very young age Laurie had a passion for animals and all kinds of wildlife. She was akin to Dr. Dolittle, nursing back to health many rescued animals, from birds to raccoons and everything in between.

She was an advocate for the Make a Wish Foundation and was involved in helping terminally ill children travel to Disneyland. She was also a benefactor to St. Jude Children’s Hospital and Greenhill Humane Society.

Laurie is survived by her children, Shawn Kempton (March Ann Dexter) and Michelle Kempton of Eugene, OR, four grandchildren, Zachary, Alexis, Renee and Alec, mother Catherine Weinberg of Aliso Viejo, CA, sisters, Madelon Weinberg of Aliso Viejo, CA, Cindy Benson (Craig) of Sacramento, CA, sister-in-law Stormy Trahern of Yuba City, CA, her beloved poodle, Shorty and many nieces and nephews.

Laurie was proceeded in death by her husband of 43 years, Lowell Kempton, son Scott Kempton, father Robert Weinberg and brother Rick Weinberg.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
