Lauren Erica Herzog, 18, was born March 16, 1987 in California and passed away October 4, 2005 in Mission Viejo, California. Lauren is survived by her parents, Jay Herzog and Cathy Wellington; sister, Holly Herzog; brother, Adam Herzog; grandparents, Madolyn Hufnagel, John Wellington; Renee and Hillard Herzog; great-grandparents, Stanley and Jen Chiarenza.

Dear Herzog Family,
My name is Charlie Johnson and I knew who Lauren was through sports. My sister, Katie, plays Capo Dana NJB at the Boys and Girls Club and Lauren would come on her razor and cheer for Katie and her team. You see, my sister’s team was probably the worst in the league, and even when they were losing by like a million points, Laurenwith my mom was there to cheer for them. When my family heard about the incident, we were shocked and saddened. When we told others about the sad news, we learned that almost everyone knew her! It turns out that Lauren had cheered for peoples football, basketball, and baseball teams. These were people from Laguna Niguel and Mission Viejo! And in EVERYONE’S story, Lauren was always referred to as “the cheerful girl on the razor.” I personally never got a chance to actually sit and talk with Lauren, but my mom did. And after we recieved the news of Lauren’s accident, my mom said, “she was probably the kindest and happiest girl that I have ever met.” And that’s exactly how everyone felt about Lauren, kind and happy.
At school I’m doing a report in Spanish and the topic is “El dia de los muertos”day of the dead. Our job is to honor someone who means a lot to us that has past away. And Lauren does mean a lot to my whole family. Lauren is pretty much the reason why my sister is encountering her fourth year in playing basketball. Even though that season for Katie was pretty horrible, Lauren made it a happy memory. So I would appreciate it if you could give more information on Lauren for my report.
