Obituary
Kyle Paul Avila
December 31, 1990 – May 18, 2024
Beloved son, brother, and grandson, Kyle Paul Avila of San Juan Capistrano, returned home to the Lord on May 18th at 3:00 pm. He was 33 years old. These similarities to the life of Christ seem appropriate to all who knew and loved him. Even with an imperfect human body, he was perfect in the eyes of his parents, sister, grandparents, and the vast circle of friends and caregivers who had the privilege of being in his presence.
With unconditional love and devotion, Kyle’s parents, Paul and Monica, committed their lives to ensuring his daily needs were met. They bathed him, changed him, fed him, and administered medicines while talking and laughing with him. They found joy and fulfillment in the intimate care he required. Kyle’s snorting laughter was infectious, and his smile would warm hearts. He loved music and enjoyed listening to his favorite songs.
He loved his younger sister, Courtney, and they shared a special sibling bond. She, along with her grandparents and a wonderful team of nurses, helped support Paul and Monica. Although he couldn’t participate in traditional education, Kyle did attend specialized school programs, frequently winning “Student of the Month” awards. He was also his sister’s popular “Show and Tell” when she attended school at St. Edward’s.
Kyle touched many lives and taught people about faith, hope, and love. His powerless power was a gift he freely gave and a blessing that will long be remembered. As he takes his place among the angels, he will be dearly missed here on earth.
Kyle is survived by his parents, Paul and Monica Avila, his sister, Courtney Avila, and his devoted grandfathers, David Goddard and Robert Avila. Until their recent deaths, his grandmothers, Mary Margaret Goddard, and Joan Avila, lovingly participated in his care.
A Celebration of Life Mass will take place on June 27th, 2024 at 11:00 am at St. Edward the Confessor Catholic Church in Dana Point, California. Please wear bright colors if possible. Kyle is no longer blind and can see them now!
As a testament to Kyle’s life and the joy he found in these organizations, the family kindly requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Beyond Blindness (formerly Blind Children’s Learning Center), United Mitochondrial Disease Foundation, or Special Camp for Special Kids. Your support will continue to enrich the lives of those these organizations serve.
