Obituary

Kevin Robert Engleman, 47, of Aliso Viejo, California, went to be with Jesus on June 5, 2016. He passed away unexpectedly at Saddleback Memorial Hospital from a brain bleed with his family and friends by his side. Kevin was born in Batavia, New York, and moved to Norwalk, California with his parents when he was 6-months old. He graduated from Sonora High School in La Habra, and attended college at San Diego State University and at Cal State Fullerton, where he completed his Biology degree. He later earned his MBA from Pepperdine University, while working for TAP Pharmaceuticals.

Kevin worked for TAP/Takeda Pharmaceuticals USA for 23 years. His positions included Sales Representative, Specialty Hospital Rep, Trainer, District Manager and Senior District Manager. Kevin met his wife, Jennifer, while they were working together at TAP. They married nearly 20 years ago, on August 24, 1996. Kevin’s pride and joy were his two sons, Blake and Cole. He loved going to Lake Havasu and teaching the boys to water ski and wake board. He coached their baseball teams in Aliso Viejo Little League for 10 years; was a basketball coach for their National Junior Basketball teams and was involved with them in Boy Scout Troop 700. His top priority in life was always his family but he was also a great coach and inspired many young athletes along the way.

Kevin was a larger than life personality, known for his quick wit and humor, and for his huge heart. He was warm and personable with a ready smile and a big hug to greet you. He made everyone around him laugh and feel good with his positive and outgoing nature. Within a few minutes of meeting Kevin, complete strangers felt they had known him for years. He loved organizing group events with family and friends to attend concerts or go on skiing or boating vacations. Even his daily drive home from work was spent on the phone with family and friends just “catching up”. He truly loved life, his family and his friends and the feeling was mutual. He will be greatly missed but forever remembered in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

His legacy lives on through his loving family: wife, Jennifer Engleman; sons Blake Engleman, 16, and Cole Engleman,14; parents Dan & Ann Engleman; brother and sister-in-law Brian and Anna Engleman; and nieces Bella and Athena Engleman. Even in his passing, Kevin made the world a better place by both saving and improving the lives of over 30 people with his donor contributions.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, July 9th at 3:00pm, at Coast Hills Church, 5 Pursuit, Aliso Viejo, CA 92656

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Engleman Educational Trust, for Blake’s and Cole’s future education, or to the Orange County Boy Scouts of America.

  2. As neighbors and friends of the Athans’ I have many fond memories of Kevin and family coming to visit Buffalo. One of the best is when we took Kevin and Brian to a Beach Boys concert at the Old Rockpile baseball stadium. Kevin was always so fun to be around and he was already ready to make you laugh. God be with all of his family. Rest in Peace Kevin
