Kenneth George Hanke March 17, 1933 – January 3, 2021

Kenneth George Hanke passed away on Sunday, January 3, 2021 at his residence in Lake Forest, California at the age of 87 from Covid complications following a long battle with dementia.  He was born on March 17, 1933 to Oscar Hanke and Ethel Danforth in St. Louis, Missouri.

Ken married Betty LaPiana on July 26, 1958 at Miraculous Medal Church in Montebello, California and had three daughters. They were married over 62 years and their story ended with their passings only one day apart.  Betty passed on January 2, 2021.

Ken is survived by his children Florence (Michael) Porter, Linda Hanke, and Roseanne (Bradley) Secord and grandchildren Mackenzie (Lyssa) Porter, Nicholas Porter, Jaclyn Secord, and Joshua Secord. Ken is predeceased by his wife, Betty Hanke, his parents and siblings, Adele (Paul) Mann, James (Jeannine) Hanke, Harlan Hanke.

He was a devoted husband, dad and grandpa to his family leaving lasting memories of family parties and camping trips.  He spent most of his time looking for a good deal.  After their retirement, Betty and Ken spent time traveling around the country in their motorhome and via train.  Travel and family were their passions.

A graveside memorial service will be held at 12:00pm on Friday January 29, 2021 at Ascension Cemetery, Guardian Angel Mausoleum, 24754 Trabuco Road Lake Forest, CA 92630.  In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be sent to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America ( alzfdn.org ).
